Colonial Life in 13 Colonies helps students understand how people lived, worked and governed themselves before the American Revolution. Lessons compare the three colonial regions, New England, the Middle Colonies and the Southern Colonies, and look at how geography shaped farming, trade and daily life.
What students will learn
- How geography and climate shaped each region’s economy
- What daily life was like for families, farmers, merchants and craftspeople
- How town meetings and colonial assemblies gave colonists experience in self-government
The unit builds background knowledge students need before they study the road to independence.
